We are seeking an IT Technical Writer to join our team to support our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client located in New Carrollton MD. Our client wants our staff on site providing support at the IRS facility 3 days a week, Tuesday through Thursday but other 2 days you can work at home! The IRS facility is conveniently located directly across the street from the New Carrollton Metro station!

•Coordinate with the Project Manager and IRS Enterprise Life Cycle (ELC) coach to identify list of technical documents that need to be created in support of new product development and deployment
•Obtain necessary information for document content by conducting independent research and by meeting with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other relevant stakeholders
•Gather, analyze, and compose technical information for a variety of IRS ELC documents including Management Plans (for example Project, Risk), Project Charter, Solution Concept, Computer Operator’s Handbook
•Support creation of a documentation schedule including review and sign-off dates and track work to meet dates
•Engage in formatting, editing, and quality assurance on own work and the work of others
•Receive text from technical staff and rewrite documentation in a clear and concise style
•Improve editorial and visual standards for documents and recommend new designs, layouts and procedures, as needed
•Support creation of status reports and dashboards using templates in MS PowerPoint
•Capture meeting minutes for a variety of meetings including product planning, technical discussions, and status meetings
•Participate in scrum team meetings including planning, end of sprint ceremony, and retrospectives
•Escalate potential issues and risks to Project Manager and assist with entering risks into IRS risk management application

•Bachelor's Degree in information technology, computer science, business or other relevant area from an accredited college or university required
•At least six (6) years of related experience required
•With High School diploma at least thirteen (13) years of experience required
•With Master’s Degree at least four (4) years of relevant experience required
•Experience with IT technical writing and technical documentation
•Demonstrated writing proficiency for multiple audiences and in multiple modes (reports, meeting minutes, presentations, user guides, manuals, technical specifications)
•Demonstrated ability to translate technical information into clear, readable documents for technical and business users
•Experience using Microsoft Products such as Word and Excel as well as Adobe Products
•Excellent attention to detail capability
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
•Ability to interface with all levels of management
•Ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision and guidance
•Excellent time management, scheduling, and organizational skills
•Ability to work well independently or in a team setting
•Knowledge and/or experience with Agile concepts and practices preferred
•Experience with IRS ELC processes and procedures preferred
•Experience with Visio preferred
•Candidate must provide two writing samples either prior to or on day of interview

Physical Requirements:
•Work is performed in a general office environment

Additional Requirements as per contract/client:
•Candidates must meet requirements to obtain and maintain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance (active IRS Moderate Risk MBI clearance is a plus).
•Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years, and be Federal Tax compliant.
