Job Description

The Finance Manager position is responsible to perform and provide oversight for the functions noted in this job description

  • Performs all project finance functions in accordance with company policy and manuals
  • Tracks project performance as it relates to performance based revenue
  • Develops and manages project status reporting for Project Management, using CostPoint and Cognos reports as well as Excel
  • Reviews contract modifications, maintain financial contract files and prepares reports, documentation and presentations as appropriate
  • Prepares and/or reviews Project financial forecasts with Project Management and Division finance and works closely to track performance and provides timely variance and Risk and Opportunity analysis
  • Prepares client invoices in conformance with MAXIMUS policy and client requirement to ensure projects are billed accurately and timely
  • Submits verification of expenses paid in client billing system
  • Manages Direct Sales Outstanding
  • Performs monthly reconciliation on accrued expenses to ensure completeness of project reporting as well as adherence to GAAP
  • Prepares and/or monitors vendor & expense report transaction processing to ensure expenses are coded correctly
  • Reviews time-charges and practices to ensure project staff and shared resources are reporting time accurately and against appropriate projects
  • Provide monthly, quarterly and annual forecasting for financial and business planning
  • Prepares routine and ad-hoc financial reports and analysis using MAXIMUS proprietary tools, Enterprise solutions and Excel
  • Lead cooperative effort among members of a team
  • Provides ongoing supervision to assigned staff
  • Responsible for identifying and resolving issues, problems and concerns
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and also recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures
  • Interacts with different levels of external and internal customers
  • Completes daily and weekly report
  • Orders and monitors usage of metro cards; office supplies.  Conducts internal audits of metro cards
  • Supports operations at 3 sites in NYC located in Manhattan, Bronx and Staten Island.  Requires frequent site visits at each location
  • Ensures the confidentiality and security of all corporate information
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership

The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • At least two years of experience in financials or financial analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (strong Word and Excel skills)
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, ability to perform quantitative and qualitative analyses of existing business processes
  • Ability to coach, develop and mentor team members
  • Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline oriented work environment
  • Ability to work under standards-based performance measures
  • Ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently
  • Ability to be a self-starter
