Job Description

The incumbent coordinates regional specialty assessment activities across the State of Virginia, ensuring compliance with Ascend and State contract policies, procedures, practices and quality standards.

  • Participate in Quality Control Initiative activities for new Independent Contractors and on an ongoing basis.  Conduct regular and “as needed” IRQRs with Independent Contractors according to AAIDD and state requirements. 
  • Works with Regional Coordinator with new assessor QCI on the scheduling process and serve as the liaison for schedulers and ICs when difficulties arise. Communicates any concerns directly to the Scheduling Supervisor and works collaboratively to formulate a plan of correction to ensure success with scheduling.  
  • Conduct SIS™ assessments in the field at a rate of 4-8 assessments per week, or at a rate conducive to assisting Ascend in maintaining contractual obligations for assessment volumes, while adhering to submission deadlines, and responding to QA feedback in a timely fashion.
  • Perform contract support for scheduling team as needed. To include gathering respondent information, scheduling assessments, and other support as needed.
  • Perform quality assurance of SIS™ assessments as needed by Quality Assurance. To include completing reviews, providing feedback to interviewers, and approving assessments within contractual guidelines. Other support for the QA team as needed.
  • Attends and participates in scheduled meetings and trainings as required, including, but not limited to, monthly quality calls, reviewer calls, and regional QCI activities.
  • Performs additional duties as necessary or assigned by the supervisor. To include, gathering and reporting data based on contract needs and interacting with DBHDS and stakeholders.
The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services, or related field, as dictated by the State contract.
  • At least three (3) years of direct experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and successful experience conducting SIS assessments in the field. 
  • At least three (1) years of leadership experience.
  • Ability to perform all job duties in compliance with Person First standards, HIPAA guidelines, and company confidentiality policies
  • Thorough understanding of diverse cultures and gender-specific issues with the ability to successfully incorporate the needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into the assessment processes
  • Working knowledge of current DSM criteria, psychotropic medications, and mental health diagnoses
  • Ability to multitask effectively while performing job duties, including ability to prioritize tasks and ensure all voice mail and email messages are returned within 24 business hours of receipt
  • Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively present information to an audience
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact professionally and collegially with referral sources (supports coordinators, SCO’s and provider agency staff), state contract officers, and coworkers
  • Intermediate skill with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and publishing software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint strongly preferred)
  • The job requires extensive travel using personal motor vehicle, due to nature of the job;
  • a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required; the incumbent is responsible for submitting updated copies of driver’s license and vehicle insurance information as needed.
