We are seeking a Scrum Master to join our team supporting our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client located in Lanham, MD.

The Scrum Master will assist in the development of sprints and releases; system integration and testing; and program level coordination with other IRS projects and stakeholders across the enterprise.

Location of work is 100% remote from home, with occasional need to attend meetings at the IRS facility in New Carrollton MD. Ideal candidate will be in DC Metro area. 

  • Participate in Scrum teams of business analysts, developers and testers to plan deliverables for each development sprint. Provide meeting minutes and action item lists within 24 hours of Scrum meetings
  • Provide expertise in identifying iterative process improvements and methods to streamline adoption of the methodology
  • Update Product Backlog Items to include new or revised requirements and backlog items
  • Support Deliverables to include Release Burn Down Charts, Sprint Burn Down Charts and Defect Log
  • Support solicitation of input and feedback from stakeholders and users after each Sprint
  • Take initiative and act as a leader to foster collaboration and communication between team members on technical issues, on process improvements, and in addressing and escalating project risks and issues

The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required. An additional four (4) years of related experience may substitute for degree
  • At least eight (8) years of related experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in iterative methodologies (Agile/Scrum)- leading Scrum meetings and developing Sprints, Product Backlogs, Burn Down Charts, and/or developing User Stories
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • In-depth understanding of the software development life cycle for implementing Enterprise level systems
  • Understanding of the role of software development tools and processes such as version control, defect and issue trackers, build processes, team collaboration tools
  • Experience working with dispersed teams, and using online communication tools such as OCS and Live Meetings, or similar
  • Experience working with many development teams (varied personalities and communication styles)
  • Experience managing deployment processes
  • Preferred experience includes:
    • Certified Scrum Master or Certified Scrum Professional
    • IRS system and data knowledge experience
    • Understanding of IBM Mainframe and Database environments
    • Experience with Rational Tools, particularly using Rational Team Concert (RTC) and training team members in using and setting up the tool

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Work is performed in an office environment with a low to moderate noise level

Additional Requirements, as per Contract/Client:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance (active IRS Moderate Risk MBI clearance is a plus).
  • Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years, and be Federal Tax compliant.
