We are seeking a Senior Test Automation Engineer to join our team to support our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client located in New Carrollton, MD. This is a telework position primarily but candidate must be able to come to the IRS New Carrollton site for special events such as release planning. The IRS facility is conveniently located directly across the street from the New Carrollton Metro station!

*Employment is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities
  • Create test plans based on understanding of features/user stories planned for product release(s)
  • Support Agile scrum team in analysis of customer requirements and user stories to identify acceptance test criteria
  • Analyze application design, interface, and database design documentation to identify critical integration points and other key areas for testing focus
  • Create test cases and enter in Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) tool such as JIRA or Rational Collaborative Lifecycle (CLM)
  • Execute test cases and record findings in the ALM tool
  • Provide automated unit test scripts for code, including but not limited to PHP, database queries, and web browser user interface
  • Provide automated integration test scripts, code, and support for DevOps integration
  • Provide automated regression test scripts for regression testing of all previous features, requirements, and defects completed in the prior sprint
  • Ensure development and operations (DevOps) tools are properly installed and configured to promote automation and integration of build, test, and deployment activities
  • Log and monitor defects using defect tracking and reporting tool such as Rational ClearQuest
  • Participate in Agile scrum team activities including daily standup, release planning, sprint planning and end of sprint ceremonies
  • Support execution of test automation strategy including identification of candidate manual test cases for automation
  • Monitor project performance, maintain project schedule, and report on project status through weekly status reports, providing input to project schedule, and presentations as requested by IRS Program Manager and Project Manager

The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university required; an additional four years of related work experience can substitute for a degree
  • Master’s Degree may be substituted for two (2) years of general experience
  • At least 7 years of related experience in one or more of the following areas: telecommunication concepts, computer software, computer languages, operating systems, middleware, or database management systems
  • At least 3 years of experience with testing web applications
  • At least 5 years designing and writing test cases and test scripts for unit, integration, and regression testing using test automation tool(s)
  • Experience using ALM tool (JIRA, IBM Rational CLM are preferred) for storage of test cases, for tracing to user stories, and for reporting test case execution results
  • Experience with Drupal 8.x CMS
  • Knowledge of and experience working with Agile principles and methods
  • Experience in the role of Test Lead
  • Understanding of DevOps and experience with Selenium 3.x and Jenkins 1.x
  • Experience with HTML, XML, Cascading Stylesheets (CSS), and SASS 3.5x
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to work well independently or in a team setting
  • Mobile emulator such as Opera experience preferred

  • Familiarity with SOLR search engine preferred

  • Understanding and experience with PHP 5.6.x, PHPUnit 6.x, Javascript, JQuery, and JSON preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in a general office environment

Additional Requirements as per Contract:

  • Candidates must meet requirements to obtain and maintain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance (active IRS Moderate Risk MBI clearance is a plus)
  • Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years, and be Federal Tax compliant
